Terms & Conditions

Rules governing your use of the resident portal and municipal services

These terms and conditions govern your use of the Town of Dorval Island resident portal. By accessing or using the portal, you agree to be bound by these terms. The portal is provided exclusively for residents, cottage owners, and authorized users of the Town of Dorval Island.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By logging in to and using the resident portal, you agree to comply with these terms and conditions, as well as all applicable municipal bylaws and regulations.

The Town reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the portal. Continued use of the portal after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

2. Account Responsibilities

Accounts are created by municipal administration. There is no public self-registration. Each account is personal and associated with a specific resident or cottage owner.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify the Town immediately if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

You are responsible for ensuring that your profile information, including your contact details, remains accurate and up to date. You may update your information through the portal's profile settings.

3. Acceptable Use

When using the portal, you agree to:

  • Use the portal only for its intended purpose of accessing municipal services
  • Provide accurate and truthful information in all forms and requests
  • Not interfere with or disrupt the portal's operation or security
  • Not attempt to access accounts or data belonging to other users

4. Municipal Services

The portal provides access to various municipal services, including but not limited to ferry pass and parking orders, barge reservations, town hall reservations, rental permit applications, island wear orders, donation pledges, volunteer interest forms, document access, and community event information.

The Town strives to maintain portal availability but does not guarantee uninterrupted access. Services may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. Seasonal services (ferry, barge, pool, etc.) are subject to their own schedules and operating conditions.

Certain services available through the portal involve fees (ferry passes, parking, barge reservations, etc.). Applicable rates are displayed at the time of the request. The Town reserves the right to modify rates in accordance with municipal bylaws.

5. Content and Intellectual Property

All content on the portal — including text, documents, images, bylaws, and other materials — is the property of the Town of Dorval Island or its licensors and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.

Information you submit through the portal (forms, requests, orders) becomes part of the municipal record and is subject to the Town's privacy policy and Quebec's Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies.

6. Limitation of Liability

The portal and its services are provided on an "as is" basis. While the Town makes reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of information presented, it does not warrant that all content is complete, current, or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Town of Dorval Island shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the portal.

7. Termination

The Town may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these terms, if your residency or association with the island ends, or for any other reason at the Town's discretion.

Upon termination, your access to the portal will be revoked. Any pending requests or orders may be cancelled. The Town's obligations regarding your personal information will continue as described in the privacy policy.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the applicable laws of Canada. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the portal shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Quebec.
